What Should I Do When My Tooth Is Knocked Out?

A knocked-out tooth is always a serious dental emergency. If you delay going to an Emergency Dentist in Hamilton, there’s a possibility you will lose your tooth.

How to Preserve a Knocked-Out Tooth Until Your Dental Emergency Visit

Step 1:

Clean your knocked-out tooth by rinsing it with warm water by holding it with its crown. DO NOT touch its root. When you rinse the tooth, hold it by the top part of the tooth (the crown).

Step 2:

Clean the inside of your mouth with warm water.

Step 3:

Now place your tooth back in your mouth and into the gum where it came out from.

Step 4:

Gently bite down to prevent your tooth from coming out and to keep your tooth in place until you can get to Hamilton City Dental. Call the office right away or have someone call for you who can explain the situation.

Step 5:

If you cannot place the tooth back into its gum socket, place your tooth in a small jar/cup of milk to help preserve it until you get to the dental office. If you're facing a dental emergency, call Hamilton City Dental, your Hamilton Emergency Dentist, for expert assistance.
